Membership

As per the Society’s written constitution, formal membership with The William Osler Society of Australia & New Zealand will be open to all who ‘express and demonstrate a genuine interest in the Society’s goals and operations.’ The Society is keen to expand its membership but will assess all applicants on a case-by-case basis. At this stage, there are three substantial membership categories:

1. Active Members: This category is preserved for those who are willing and able to i) attend at least one online meeting a year, ii) indicate an active interest in medical history and/or the humanities, iii) consider contributing to the Society’s Journal Osleriana.
2. Honorary Members: This category encompasses Oslerian scholars and members of other established Osler Societies who are not suitable for the category of active membership but have an interest in the Society and its objectives. There is no obligation for any kind of contribution to the Society by Honorary Members, but their comments and further input would be warmly welcomed.
3. Friends: These are generally distinguished medical personalities who have contributed significantly to medical education or science, and who have indicated their support for the Society. Additionally, all national and international guests who present at our meetings will be offered ‘friendship’ status with the Society.

All membership lists will be reviewed annually.
Please contact the Society directly for any membership enquiries.
